Meet the fruit fly that caught the setting sun
I went outside yesterday evening to photograph the sky which was a mass of pinks and reds as the setting sun illuminated the clouds. I wasn’t particularly pleased with the results, but turning back to the apartment my eye was caught by a flash of something on the living room window.
I moved closer and saw that it was a tiny fruit fly, about 3 mm long. I quickly changed lens to the macro lens and got close. And this is what I captured.

Colourful indeed!

Indeed, a tiny gem, and I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

That fly looks like a stained glass. I never saw this fly . Thanks Denzil.

It was just a normal fruit fly Anita. Without the sun at the particular angle it would have looked quite drab and grey.

I was lucky to capture it right at the best moment. If it had moved the effect would probably have disappeared.

That is indeed rather lovely. I still don’t appreciate fruit flies buzzing round the fruit bowl.

Me neither, no matter how they try to blind me with their multicoloured wings.
